Welcome to St. Bernard's Parish,
If you are a visitor, I hope you will find our website to be a reflection of this wonderful parish and that through this site you will be drawn more deeply into life in Christ, through our parish community.
If you are a parishioner, I hope that you will find the information that you need in order to become more fully engaged in the life of our family of Faith.
St. Bernard's Parish is in the Diocese of Joliet and has been staffed by the Augustinian Friars since 2017. The parish was established in 1978. (For more information about our history, click here) These same Augustinians staff Providence Catholic High School and St. Jude Parish in nearby New Lenox.
As a Catholic community of faith, we seek to welcome all those searching for both support and challenge in living a life with meaning and direction. We especially welcome and support families wishing to imbue their children with positive values that will help them grow into well-balanced and happy individuals.
The Mass is the center of our parish life. St. Bernard's is blessed with a variety of priests—Augustinian and diocesan—who are fine leaders of prayer and homilists. During the school year, the Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the first part of the 10:30AM Mass helps the younger children grow in their understanding of faith at their own level.
If you would like to find out more about our parish community, please look closely around this website or call the parish office at 708-301-3020. We encourage you to "Like" our Facebook page, as well.
We are here to help you.

Make Sure You Are Registered in the Parish
Why is it so important to be registered in a parish? Isn’t it good enough that we go to Mass?
Registration is the official way we join a parish community. Many people think that because they attend a particular church they automatically belong to that parish. At times, young adults who have moved away for years think they are still signed up under their parents’ membership. But their membership requires calling the parish office to formally enroll in that parish.
Registration is a commitment to a community, a way to be included in the religious, social, and ministerial activities of your parish. Parish registration affects the parish in many ways. Census numbers can determine how many priests are assigned to a particular church, what benefits and obligations the community has to the diocese, and how Masses, Confessions, and devotions are planned and scheduled. Registration shows that you belong. It is also necessary for certain benefits, like scheduling sacraments, obtaining certificates and getting contribution statements for taxes. Most importantly, it lets the parish count on you, to call on you to assist in its mission. Registering in your parish is a statement of faith and confidence in the life and work of the parish.
Some even have reason to maintain registration in more than one parish. They might have two homes or have some loyalty to a parish where they previously lived. Individuals, couples and families can register in St. Bernard Parish by completing a form that can be obtained from the Parish Info Center in the foyer after weekend Mass, or from the parish office on Parker Road, or from the parish website (stbernardhg.org). We are St. Bernard…We are Church.
