KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
WINTER COAT DRIVE
Through December 15
Winter is upon us again! Cold weather is coming! The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring their annual coat drive from December 7th- December 15th. Please check your closets and see if you have any extra winter coats that could help local kids stay warm and cozy. Donations will be distributed to local Will County Charities like Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Joliet and Boys and Girls Clubs of Joliet Just drop them in the boxes located by each exit. Thank You!
Our local Knights of Columbus chapter is asking the men of this Catholic community to join in their mission to serve our community, defend our faith, and bring healing and mercy to those in need. The Knights are animated by a desire to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors, and men of faith. The Knights of Columbus is one of the largest Catholic organizations in the world with over 2 million members. In 2022, the global organization raised over $154 million dollars for charitable causes with 100% of raised funds going directly to the intended recipients. All expenses are covered by dues and millions of volunteer hours.
Locally, our council here at St Bernard’s and Our Mother of Good Counsel raised over $15,000 dollars last year in support of various charities and service organizations. They collected winter coats for children, and baby items and monies for local pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes, donated to Lockport Fish Pantry, Suicide Prevention Program, American Legion, with major donations to organizations serving those with intellectual disabilities, and more. In addition to charitable giving, they also serve our parish and community with their time. You will see the Knights sponsoring blood drives, serving meals at the Ronald McDonald House, sponsoring Eucharistic Adoration, Novenas for Life, and contributing to various parish needs.
The ask is minimal. If you have as little as 2 hours per month to give, you can make a real impact on our community and parish. The time you give is flexible, always appreciated, but never obligated. If you feel called to give and be a channel of aid and mercy in our community, and welcome the fellowship of other dedicated Catholic men, stop by their table at the end of Mass to learn more about the mission, and consider becoming a Knight.
